2003 Daniel Staten “2003 Tolkien Calendar” Illustrated by Daniel H. Staten. Associated with each illustration is the text that inspired the work and thoughts/comments from Mr. Staten about his creative process for the piece. On each calendar page are major events from the story. Per Mr. Staten: "This calendar represents some of my first illustrative efforts while I was still a student. I have grown and come a long way since those early days, and no longer feel that any of the pieces in this calendar are representative of the quality illustrations I strive for in every piece I do. Please see my website for my current portfolio.” It is a rare calendar. Only six were produced and most of those went to family members.
